THE FREE MASK PROJECT OF VANCOUVER

@freemaskproject is looking for volunteers in Vancouver who are interested in:

1) Sewing masks,

OR

2) Collecting donated cloth fabrics or clean blue operating room instrument sterilization wrappings manufactured by Halyard from your hospital,

OR

3) Driving to collect and distribute masks and instrument wrappings

If interested in this project, please consult @freemaskproject on facebook or this website for details about our mission and instructions on mask making.

The Canadian CDC recommends universal non-surgical mask usage to decrease community spread of COVID19. We aim to use an evidence-based approach to design and fabricate reusable homemade masks that are as effective as surgical masks. These masks are provided free of charge for at risk individuals in our community - such as the essential workers and the elderly.

We are currently creating two lines of reusable homemade masks that are designed to maximize fit, filtration efficiency and breathability:

1) Our Halyard masks are made from clean medical-grade fabric collected from hospitals. These masks can be reused more than 20 times by heating them to 70 Celsius for 30 min between use in an oven or dehydrator.

2) Our cloth masks are made from a composite of fabrics that maximize comfort and the intrinsic properties of the material to increase filtration efficiency. When used with the Halyard filter, we aim to achieve the effectiveness of a surgical mask.

If you are interested in helping out with this project OR you need these masks for personal protection, please email: freemaskproject@gmail.com

Please download this flyer to spread the word!
